Some 70 third and fourth year Civil Engineering undergraduate students from the University of the Basque Country visited the works of the new Port of Bilbao maritime terminal the Port Authority is constructing in Getxo, and whose contractor is the temporary consortium formed by Giroa, S.A.U. – Excavaciones Viuda de Sainz, S.A. The facility, which will be in operation for the next season, is at the phase where the glass façade is being completed.
The head of the Port Authority of Bilbao’s Construction Department, Mr José Luis García Mochales, the maritime station’s architect, Mr Pablo Estefanía, and staff from Vda. de Sainz explained to the students – who were accompanied by Dr Jesus Mª Romera, Mechanical Engineering Lecturer– what the project consisted of, its functional nature and how it is
innovative by simulating the path that the station’s users will take.
