Port accessMacAndrews has started a door-to-door Ro-Ro service between Bilbao and Poole, which opens up opportunities for fresh produce exporters from regions such as Murcia, Valencia and Almeria.
The new service is operated by two weekly Ro-Ro vessels, which leave Bilbao on Mondays and Thursdays to arrive in Poole on Tuesdays and Saturdays respectively. Besides the new connection, supposes an improvement in the company’s multimodal Lo-Lo services with the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, the Baltic Countries, Finland and Russia. A further advantage is the 4.5-tonne CO2 reduction in the carbon footprint, for example, between Murcia and Birmingham, since it will avoid trucks crossing France by road.
