Port accessCespa Gestión de Residuos and Saisa Port are the two latest companies to set up inside the Port of Bilbao in order to optimise their logistics costs. Both companies will be located on Dock AZ-1 in the Port Extension in the Outer Abra.
On the one hand, Gestión de Residuos will occupy 7000 square metres to set up an industrial waste treatment plant. Their investment amounts to 1.4 million euros, and their activity will start in 2018 with an estimated annual traffic of 30,000 tonnes.
On the other, Saisa will occupy 3,400 square metres for the storage and distribution of solid bulks, mainly carbonate and bicarbonate of soda. It is planned to build a warehouse on a surface of 2,800 square metres with a maximum 16,000-tonne capacity with an exterior height of 10.13 metres. The terminal will also have an outside silo for loading tanker lorries and a weighbridge. Total investment, including pavilion equipment and secondary facilities, will cost almost 1.3 million euros.
Initial traffic will be 32,000 tonnes. The works have a 7-month completion period.
With the approval of these licences and the projects already under way, the Port of Bilbao boasts an occupancy rate nearing 83%, one of the highest percentages among Spanish general interest ports.
