With a view to furthering its efforts to consolidate the innovation ecosystem at the Port of Bilbao and to attracting new start-ups interested in developing future projects in the port, Bilbao PortLab, the innovation and research hub of the Bilbao Port and River Foundation, will have a stand at B-Venture this coming 15 and 16 October.
At the largest entrepreneurship event in the north of Spain, which will bring together at the Euskalduna Congress Centre in Bilbao start-ups, ideas, innovation, entrepreneurs, investors and funding, the Bilbao PortLab delegation will explain how the organisation collaborates with port companies to take forward innovation projects generated internally, attracts external proposals related to the logistics-port sector, and matches up the needs of the port community with start-ups that can provide innovative solutions.
At the event, Bilbao PortLab will also highlight the possibilities provided by the Port of Bilbao not only to serve as a living lab, a real test environment in which start-ups, entrepreneurs and companies can test and develop prototypes, but also to facilitate contacts and partnerships with port companies, to provide a setting in which to develop projects, to support entrepreneurship by helping to draw up individualised work plans, and to invite people to tap into current and future funding opportunities.
Among the 25 projects selected to participate in the pitching sessions of the B-Venture programme, three are initiatives that have the backing of Bilbao PortLab and form part of the innovation ecosystem of the Port of Bilbao. The three projects are:
- Zenit Solar, a digital platform designed to connect producers and consumers to promote shared self-consumption and the creation of energy communities.
- SBS, which uses HECO (High Efficiency Contact) technology to transform waste into higher value products through different thermochemical processes such as pyrolysis and CO2
- Ubyko, a solution for the automation and optimisation of warehouse space, currently in the last mile.
