CAF are embarking six trains in the Port of Bilbao destined for the Saudi Railway Company (SAR). The first two units are already in their destination at the new, modern railway station at Riyadh, where the first trial run has been carried out over the 1,130 kilometres between Nariyah and Riyadh.
Each of the trains comprises two locomotives and thirteen carriages: total length is 280 metres and they have the capacity for 444 passengers. They incorporate the most advanced modern technologies in passenger transport due to their materials, designs and state of the art equipment.
Consignments Toro y Betolaza and Servicios Logísticos Portuarios (SLP) were responsible for loading operations.
The added value of the contracts CAF signed in Saudi Arabia comes to over 400 million euros and is a clear example of the company’s determination to position itself in this demanding, competitive market.
This investment, which is one of the most important Saudi Arabia has made in the field of infrastructures, aims to increase trade and travel movements among the cities on the line, thus attracting a greater number of industrial investment in the area.
