On 12 November, the Palacio Euskalduna Conference Centre, Bilbao will hold the “Maritime spatial planning and climate change mitigation under the ecosystem approach” congress. This forms part of the European Commission’s Atlantic Forum to develop the potentials and face the specific challenges of this geographic area concerning environment, energy, economy and safety.
The Bilbao congress is the third thematic event to be held in Europe, and the first in Spain. Both the autonomous Basque Government and the Spanish Ministry for Overseas and
Cooperation will collaborate.
Four workshops will be held at this event: the Ecosystem approach in Fisheries management; Offshore Aquaculture; Renewable Energies: Industrial development and, Intermodal transport services and maritime safety. The Port Authority of Bilbao will participate in the latter session.
