The VII edition of the Project Cargo Summit will be held on 17-18 September with the Port of Bilbao, specialists in handling oversized cargo such as wind turbine components, taking centre stage
The challenges and innovations shaping the future of project and break bulk cargo will be the focus of the VII edition of the Project Cargo Summit, where shippers, logistics service suppliers, shipping lines, ship brokers, ports and terminals, service providers and industry professionals and experts from around the world will come together on 17-18 September at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao.
Organised in collaboration with the Port Authority of Bilbao, the programme agenda for this latest edition of Project Cargo Summit will feature key issues for the sector such as adapting to larger size vessels, modernising port infrastructure and managing the environmental impact of megaprojects. Other issues under discussion and analysis will include the role of technology in optimising port operations, securing valuable cargo, the latest developments in the offshore wind energy sector, the rapidly expanding market and the new opportunities arising in the Spanish market and throughout Europe.
Under the title ‘Mastering the Art of Mega Logistics’, the summit programme also includes a site visit to the Haizea Wind facilities in the port of Bilbao, conferences and panel discussions featuring industry leaders from Mammoet, Deugro, SAL Heavy Lift and the Port Authority of Bilbao, and a host of opportunities for networking with sector professionals.
The conference entitled ‘Explaining the Growth and Ambitions of the Port of Bilbao’, to be given by Andima Ormaetxe, Operations, Commercial, Logistics and Strategy Director of the Port of Bilbao, is of particular interest. The Port of Bilbao is a multi-purpose port committed to and specialised in strategic traffic for its hinterland, such as project cargo. Ormaetxe will explain the challenges facing the main port of the Atlantic Arc and how it is taking steps to meet them.
Summit conferences will be in English. Project and break bulk cargo sector professionals can register on the website at projectcargosummit.com/registration. For further information on the Project Cargo Summit, go to projectcargosummit.com
