A business delegation from the Belgian region of Flanders, including the Port Authority of the Flemish Canals Waterwegen & Zeekanaal, made a visit to the Port of Bilbao as part of their schedule of business meetings held last week.
Between Bilbao and Flanders there is already waterways traffic and this meeting was used to analyse how to increase maritime traffic. At their meeting with the Port Authority last Friday, the uses of both maritime traffic systems made by Belgian shippers were examined, and potential Belgian investors were shown the opportunities the Port of Bilbao offers.
Flanders is one of the three regions that make up Belgium and most of the country’s wealth is concentrated there. Its economy is based on exports and trade and it has the greatest per capita exports rate in the world.
The business delegation that visited Bilbao was made up of companies from different sectors including hauliers, forwarding agents, consultancies, recyclers, and manufacturers of consumer
goods and building materials.
