In January, MACS Maritime Carrier GmbH & Co will launch a new multipurpose service that will link Europe with the Gulf of Mexico and the East Coast of the United States. The monthly service will be known as MACS Transatlantic and will offer a wide variety of different cargoes such as bulk, steel products, rolling stocks, projected cargoes and heavy lifts. Reefer containers are also catered for.
The rotation of the service will be Altamira (Mexico), New Orleans and Houston (USA), Rotterdam (Holland), Immingham (UK), Bremen (Germany), Antwerp (Belgium) and Bilbao, the final loading port.
MACS general agent in Spain is the Grupo Vasco Catalana.
The service will employ the multipurpose, open-hatch vessels
Amber Lagoon and Purple Beach, each with intermediate decks to enable on board loading and with a lifting capacity of up to 110 tonnes.
