Representatives of the Port Authority of Bilbao and the Town Council of Zierbena, among others, have visited the new rail facilities for the loading and unloading of liquids and especially of chemicals that TEPSA have recently brought into service at their Port of Bilbao terminal.
The siding’s capacity enables seven convoys to be loaded/unloaded weekly with an estimated movement of 300,000 tonnes per year. After the first operations, it is forecast that CO2 emissions to the atmosphere will be reduced by some 650,000 kgs through the rerouting of transport from road to rail.
The siding consists of a 384-metre long main track and an auxiliary one of 84 metres. The track extends 936 metres to the exit of the terminal and links with the general Port track.
