The Port Authority of Bilbao will continue to offer free guided tours to the Port of Bilbao facilities during the Christmas period, when port activity increases due to higher consumption at this time of the year.
The tours will take place at all weekends except for Sundays 24 and 31 December respectively. The aim of the tours is to bring the public closer, in a very pleasant way, to Port activity and its strategic and economic importance for both Biscay and the Basque Country as a whole.
The tours, which take place by coach, begin at 10.30 at the Santurtzi Tourist Information Office and last about two hours. Those interested in the tours should register beforehand by email at ezagutuportua@bilbaoport.eus or at the website www.bilbaoport.eus
The tours take in both the oldest part of the Port as well as the new docks on lands reclaimed from the sea. Visitors can see the dock equipped for container loading/unloading, the Ro-Ro ramps
specially prepared for wheeled cargo, the perishables warehouses, the laboratories where phytosanitary controls are carried out, the emergency rescue centre, the docks for heavy project loads and the industrial zone where the great oil and gas carriers berth and where the first marine wind farm in Spain is located.
