The Port Authority of Bilbao presents its offer for perishable goods transport at the Cool Logistics international conference to be held this year in Algeciras on 26 and 27 September. This event, being held for the ninth time, brings together owners of perishable loads with logistics and transport professionals from the cold chain worldwide in order to assess the main market trends and the best operational practices for the international transport of refrigerated and frozen cargo.
Besides the talks, there is also an exhibition area where the Port of Bilbao representatives will provide information about its offer.
Bilbao is the fourth most important port in Spain, with 31.9 million tonnes total traffic, 6.3 of which is shipped by container. In recent years, the Port has strongly committed itself to increasing fruit and vegetable entry and exit flows. In this sense, it closely collaborates with Mercabilbao, the largest perishable produce distributor in the north of the Iberian Peninsula by profiting from synergies with a view to attracting new shippers and new shipping lines.
Last year, fruit and vegetable produce through the Port of Bilbao grew 17%. Meanwhile, Mercabilbao commercialised 217 million kilos of fruit and vegetables.
