Registration to attend the III International Conference “500 Anniversary of the First Round-The-World Voyage”, organised by the Biscay Association of Merchant Navy Captains, the Port Authority of Bilbao and the Bilbao School of Engineering – Nautical Studies of the University of the Basque Country – Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV-EHU), is now open.
On 17, 18 and 19 May 2022, the auditorium of the UPV-EHU in Bilbao will be the meeting point for decision-makers and professionals from the maritime sector, from the port sector, from the world of Arts and for members of the general public interested in the figure of Juan Sebastián Elkano and his famous expedition that changed the world. The history and changes that the sectors and professions related to the sea have undergone and will undergo in the future will also be discussed.
During the conference, experts in the sector will address a wide range of topics related to Juan Sebastián Elkano and the expedition that made the first round-the-world voyage, the situation in the 16th century, the evolution and future of
shipbuilding, trade, activity, administration and maritime transport, nautical and maritime training, navigation systems and crews, health conditions and communication on board vessels, fishing, climate change and the environment.
Significant discounts on the conference fee are available for retired persons and for students of the UPV-EHU, the University of Deusto and the University of Mondragón.
