Port accessIn keeping with its commitment to driving corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities among the port community of Bilbao, the Port Authority, with the support of the Basque Government, has set up a pioneering support programme for companies in the sector. Initially, eleven companies will participate in this initiative, alongside a specialised consultancy responsible for advising them on how best to identify different CSR actions, develop them and select indicators to measure their performance outcomes after six months.
The Port Authority considers that “we have a commitment with the port community to pool CSR initiatives with a view to achieving a globally sustainable port committed to its environment”. Sustainability, understood as a strategic cross-cutting core issue for the Port of Bilbao, generates value and competitiveness in the development of port activity and its impact on our society.
Prior to this initiative, an analysis of the activities carried out by port
companies in this field was conducted, and discussions were held with the port community to ensure that the objectives established are deliverable.
