A delegation made up of twenty companies from the Bilbao port community today took part in an event organised for exporters and importers from the Ribera del Ebro area (La Rioja, the Navarre area and the north of Aragón).
The event, held in Calahorra and organised by UniportBilbao, the multimodal cluster of the Port of Bilbao, was designed to showcase the Port’s facilities and services for all types of goods for both the Atlantic European area, where the Port of Bilbao is a leader, and for transoceanic American and Asian markets. The Port of Bilbao also benefits from excellent land transport connections, which enable goods to be brought to the docks, loaded onto vessels and shipped to their final destination once unloaded. All this is further complemented by an all-important and competitive network of multimodal services, including maritime terminals, auxiliary services for vessels, customs representation, warehousing and storage, land, rail and air transport, depots, certification, repair, consultancy and insurance services, amongst others.
Together with the Bilbao Port Authority, the delegation was made up of representatives from the following companies of the port community: Access World (Spain), Asthon Cargo Bilbao/Share Logistics, Bas&Josa, Bergé Marítima Bilbao, C. Toro y Betolaza/Finnlines, Frigoríficos Portuarios del Norte (Frioport), Kuehne & Nagel, Mediterranean Shipping Co. /MSC, MGM & Asociados, Servicios Logísticos Portuarios SLP, Servicios Intermodales Bilbaoport / SIB Port, Sparber Líneas Marítimas, Suardíaz Logistics Ibérica, TransVol, Vapores Suardíaz Norte, Vasco Shipping Services and WEC Lines España.
The event, which took place from 13.00 to 15.30h at the Parador de Calahorra, highlighted the competitive advantages provided by the multimodal logistics services available through Bilbao to companies from the import and export sector from the Ebro river basin (La Rioja, Navarre and the north of Aragon) looking to internationalise their goods, regardless of size, weight, material or destination.
Bilbao-based companies have a sizeable number of customers in and around the La Ribera region, including importers/exporters and international transport companies.
