On 26 and 27 February, the Bilbao Port Authority and UniportBilbao will once again be at the Empack and Logistics & Automation Bilbao trade fair, to showcase to professionals from the packaging, logistics and transport sectors what the Port of Bilbao has to offer in terms of logistics services.
The two organisations will have a joint stand (2D11) at the BEC to welcome and respond to visitors’ enquiries, and are also organising two round tables on Wednesday 26 February. The first, entitled “AI applied to freight transport”, will start at 12.15, and will be moderated by Nuria Lacaci, General Secretary of the Spanish Shippers’ Association. Panellists will include Carlos Gallo, Country Manager for Spain at TRANSFOLLOW, who will discuss AI for improving document visibility; Leticia Álvarez, Director of Strategic Accounts: Energy, Utilities and Logistics at GOOGLE CLOUD IBERIA, who will talk about the use of Google AI for improving processes, OCR and route optimisation; Paco Iranzo, Director of Operations at MOJITO 360, who will talk about his experience in supply chain control; and Rodrigo Martín, Director of Logistics and Transport at FIELDEAS, whose topic will be “From Data to Decisions: AI in Logistics Optimisation and Yard Management”.
The second round table will deal with “Waste recovery for the logistics sector in the new regulatory framework”. Starting at 13.00, the panel discussion will be moderated by Natividad Rodríguez, Director of UniportBilbao, and will feature as panellists Arancha Bengoechea, Co-Director of Public and Regulatory Law at Andersen, who will speak about legislation on packaging and waste –
Royal Decree 1055/2022, of 27 December, on packaging and packaging waste, and Regulation (EU) 2025/40 and its application to the logistics sector; Iagoba Manzano, Business Development Manager at Contenor; and Izaro de la Peña, Environment Manager at Contenor, who will talk about waste recovery in the logistics sector.
As on previous occasions, professionals attending the fair will be offered the opportunity at the stand to register for a guided tour, on this occasion to Mercabilbao, the largest distribution centre for perishable foodstuffs in the North of the Iberian Peninsula.
