The Port Authority will participate as a challenger company in an event that will bring together 80 young professionals at the BAT B Accelerator Tower.
On 8 and 9 March, sustainability, open innovation, teamwork and young talent will be the order of the day at the Sustainability Hackathon 2024, an initiative in which companies, institutions and organisations of all kinds will put forward eight challenges related to sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals and the principles of the Circular Economy to young professionals in different disciplines to come up with innovative solutions.
The Port Authority of Bilbao will participate in this edition of the Hackathon as a challenger company, with the aim of contributing to accelerating innovation and obtaining solutions to challenges in the field of sustainability in the Port of Bilbao. At the same time, participating in the event will enable the Port Authority to engage with innovative talent, to identify potential fast-paced and disruptive methodologies to improve innovative processes within the company itself, and to network with other players, professionals, entrepreneurs and organisations of the innovation ecosystem.
Once the challenges have been set, the person profiles best suited to meet them will be identified through a selection process from among the 80 young professionals drawn from various disciplines, who will come together at the BAT B Accelerator Tower. After forming 16 teams of 4-5 people each, the participants will then have 24 uninterrupted hours to come up with innovative solutions to the challenges presented.
With a view to generating an environment that fosters creativity, teamwork and the search for innovative solutions, different methodologies will be used to push the teams towards their maximum potential. Those same teams will be supported at all times by two professional experts in project and team management to ensure they offer the best possible solutions to the challenges put forward by the challenger companies.
Once the deadline for coming up with potential solutions to the challenges has expired, the teams will deliver their proposals, the material they have worked on and graphic material about the event to the challenger companies.
