Frigoríficos Portuarios del Norte (FRIOPORT), or Perishable Goods Terminal, has a capacity of 25,000 m3 equivalent to 5,000 tonnes. Different storage modules enable goods to be preserved at temperatures varying between +12 and – 5°C at cool/cold and up to – 22°C frozen.
At present, in addition to consolidating and cultivating the loyalty of the current traffic, its is anticipated that this Terminal channel some of the huge shipments of fruit to short sea shipping in the Marco Polo programme established by the EU. In this sense, the Port of Bilbao’s perishable goods terminal is prepared for offering suitable logistics solutions for this method of transport.
The main destinations of the goods stored at FRIOPORT are the United Kingdom, Norway and Ireland, while the chief origins are Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Nicaragua, United States, China and Vietnam.
